Historic Sonoma Valley Architecture

Recently, I had the opportunity to design a renovation for the Historic Sobre Vista Main Residence, originally built by the Spreckels Family. The expansive “Sobre Vista” estate had man-made lakes, residences, a game reserve, pool, dance hall, golf course and a barn for raising horses. This project involved preserving the architectural integrity and historical significance of the residence while incorporating modern updates tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle. The design process balanced restoration with careful enhancements, ensuring compliance with current building codes and compatibility with the existing structure. Through detailed construction documents, we facilitated a smooth permitting process and provided comprehensive plans to guide the renovation from concept to completion. The result is a thoughtful blend of heritage and contemporary comfort, honoring the legacy of the original estate while meeting today’s functional needs.
